When an "Official Notice" is Not What It SeemsHave you received any "Official Notices" stating that your corporation or limited liability company needs to prepare its minutes, submit an annual report or take some other action? We have received numerous such notices that clients have forwarded to us. These notices are not official and are being sent by companies who try to solicit you to have them prepare documents or take some action for you, some of which are unnecessary. Similarly, you may have received some very "official" looking documents regarding the status of your trademarks. The U. S. Patent and Trademark Office does not send out notices of renewal for your trademarks. As with the corporate notices, the trademark notices are used by companies to solicit business. These companies have no affiliation with the U. S. government's Trademark Office. If you receive any such notices, we recommend that you forward them to us and do not otherwise respond. If you have any questions, please contact us. |
