Representative Engagments

1. Served as co-defense counsel on a consumer class action litigation resulting in grant of motion to dismiss, eliminating eight of nine class action counts, paving the way to an extremely favorable settlement resolution for the client.
2. Defended significant litigation among family members for control of a family owned business; counseled client as to the structure of the purchase of such business to protect against future successor disputes.
3. Represented client in arbitration proceeding seeking payment of significant sum for breach of contract; negotiated successful settlement for client.
4. Evaluated and pursued claims involving the return of corporate assets and the enforcement of operating and employment agreements on an emergency basis.
5. Represented clients in recover of damages to machinery and subsequent loss of business caused by breach of warranty.
6. Developed a creative scenario to resolve potential litigation for individual and corporate clients by focusing on the business interests of both parties and reaching middle ground.
7. Successfully prosecuted unfair competition and Lanham Act claims on behalf of a sports product manufacturer client, resulting in the imposition of emergency injunctive relief in favor of our client.
8. Represented institutional lender in workout of complex commercial foreclosure, resulting in successful resolution to maximize liquidation value.
9. Evaluated client claims involving title insurance and successfully resolved those claims, securing for the client a full reimbursement for loss incurred without the need to litigate.
10. Represented international distributor of natural resources in several significant mediation disputes.
11. Represented a telecommunications client defending a10-count complaint alleging, among other things, breach of contract, tortious interference with contract and violations of the Illinois Trade Secrets Act which, after a lengthy trial, resulted in a complete exoneration of the client, with judgment entered in favor of the client on all counts.
12. Represents various privately and publicly held tobacco companies in litigation with 46 states related to commercial issues stemming from the 1998 Master Settlement Agreement.
